All over the world, people are gathering to listen. In Tokyo's jazz kissa. In hi-fi bars in London, New York, Mexico City. Rooms with one rule: the music gets your full attention.
Quieter Skies brings the listening room to Richmond, under the Dome at the Science Museum of Virginia.
Award-winning composer and immersive sound artist Robot Koch presents the Richmond premiere of his immersive sound journey, part of his current international tour following recent sold-out performances.
The music is built from a reduced palette of soft tones, analog synths, vibraphone, chimes and bells, shaped slowly through tape. It unfolds gently, inviting listeners into a shared space of stillness, presence and deep listening.
Facilitated by Kathi Hendrick, whose work integrates somatic practice, mindfulness and nervous system regulation, the experience is more than a performance: it's a grounded journey into embodied restoration. Kathi opens each showing with a guided meditation.
The ceiling falls away. You listen.
This is rest as interruption. An hour where nothing is asked of you except attention.
